In the historic heart of the city, Kastel Fortress - we will make good times by socializing, dancing, fun, partying. We will learn. This is the festival that drives everyone; kids and schoolboys and girls, athletes and recreational participants, runners and dancers, volunteers and fans. RMC Banja Luka Half Marathon is being run through the most beautiful alleys, streets and parks in Banja Luka to the most important historical monument - Kastel Fortress.

Banja Luka's half marathon race attracts the attention of numerous runners because it runs on a straight track that is ideal for achieving personal records. In 2019, the race brought together runners from 30 countries, from three continents. The race limit is 3 hours.

The new GoPro Banja Luka Half Marathon track runs in two laps; the same track is extremely straight and great for achieving personal bests. This track has been measured and verified by AIMS, which means that in addition to personal records, runners in Banja Luka will also be able to earn qualifying times for the Olympic Games and World Championships.

In order to register and officially become a participant in the RMC Banja Luka Half Marathon, you must first confirm that you agree with the following rules. The rules apply to all race participants and please read them carefully before registering and completing the official form for participating in the RMC Banja Luka Half Marathon. By completing the application on our site, you automatically accept all that is stated in this policy. The rules in this document are binding for all runners and organizers and contain guidelines regarding the race itself and the organization of this sporting event. Note: All race participants under the age of 18 must have written permission from their parents, signed in their own hands, to participate in selected races at the RMC Banja Luka Half Marathon. Children under 16 are not eligible to participate the half marathon race!

The organizer takes all possible measures to keep the event participants safe. All participants agree to run at their own risk. Organizer takes no responsibility for any loss of property during the event.

According to the IAAF and AIMS rules, runners must leave the race if requested by any of the officials. Pets (animals) as well as any form of transport on wheels are not allowed on the route or at the start/finish of the race. If for any reason the race has to be canceled (weather, unforeseen events) the entry fees will not be refunded. If the person who paid the entry fee is unable to compete, the entry fee may be transferred to another person, but not on race day. The organizer reserves the right not to accept the entry fee and participation in the race from the person who he/she thinks does not need to participate.

Race limit

Limit for finishing the race is three hours. All participants who happen to be on the track after the time limit has expired will be asked to finish the race by running or walking on the sidewalk.

  • Runners are scheduled to arrive at least 30 minutes before start of the race.
  • The changing of clothes for the runners will be done in appropriate tents; after changing the competitors can hand over their belongings to the volunteers in the changing room. If you are leaving things in the dressing room, you are required to label your bag with a sticker bearing your number, which you will find in your racing package. After changing, you hand over your belongings to the volunteers.
  • At the end of the race, you pick up your belongings based on your entry number.
  • All competitors are required to display the starting number on their chest. Competitors must wear only the starting number under which they have applied or otherwise will be disqualified from the race.
  • Race number that is given to runners also carries a unique chip. Your personal time starts to count at the moment you go through the start, and will stop only when you cross the finish line.
  • Competitors without numbers are not allowed in the start area.
  • Runners are required to follow the instructions of the official announcer, the starting judges, and the organizational staff (volunteers, police officers).
  • Pets, baby strollers, skates, bicycles or any other type of wheeled vehicles are not allowed in the start zone of the half marathon.
  • All competitors must pass checkpoints on the course. If the competitor, for whatever reason, is not registered at these checkpoints - he loses the placement, the result and can be disqualified.
  • The time limit for a half marathon race is 3 hours.
  • Refueling stations along the path are located every 2 kilometers. Water is available at all refreshment stations, and there are refreshment stations with fruit as well as refreshment stations with isotonic drinks and gels.
  • Runners who are not feeling well may contact the nearest pharmacy service, refueling staff, or medical volunteers, who are there with the medical teams and are deployed along the track.
  • After passing through the finish line, all competitors receive a medal and water, after which they must continue walking until they exit the finish area. Upon leaving the target zone, all participants along with showing up coupons that they can find in their race packs, are offered with refreshments, fruit and sponsor gifts.

The new 10k race track marks the first lap of the half marathon race. It runs down the narrowest city center all the way to the finish line at Kastel Fortress. Teammates, university colleagues, co-workers, neighbors, best friends, fitness buddies; all can participate in the team race.

The team can have from 3 to 5 members. At the end of the race the results of all the members are summed up and the average time on which will be based best male, female and mixed team. The race limit is 1 hour.

The 5k Team Run G-Drive team track is designed for teams of 3 to 5 members. It is extremely flat and it is going through the narrowest city center, from the start which is located on Krajina Square to the finish line in Kastel Fortress.

The 5K Team Run is a team race, with teams of at least 3 and maximum of 5 members. Men's, women's and mixed teams can apply.

REGISTER

One of the most exciting races in the world, whose main characteristic is the sprinkling of participants with colors of organic origin, was first organized in Banja Luka in 2019 at the Kastel Fortress. This is a race that commemorates the beginning of spring as well as celebrating love and friendship.

The most colorful urban race takes place in such a way that participants start it in a clean white t-shirt, while volunteers and fans cover them with the most joyous organic colors for each crossed mile.

The Color Fun Run race track is 3 kilometers long and runs from the start line at Kastel Fortress, through the central street of King Petar I Karadjordjevic to the National Theater of Republic of Srpska, from where the runners return the same route to the finish at fortress.

  • Access to persons under 7 years of age is not allowed in the start area.
  • No pets or any wheeled vehicles are allowed on the race track or at the start/finish of the Color Fun Run race.
  • Runners are only required to wear a white t-shirt included in the participant's pack.
  • The race time limit is 40 minutes.
  • Runners who are not feeling well can turn to medical volunteers.

“School Run” race includes competitions in different categories; for personal, class and school scores on the 700 meter course that runs from mall Boska to Kastel Fortress.

The competition is only a part of this event, which brings fun and friendship to children and teenagers by having them participate in recreational sport and a healthy lifestyle.

Schoolchildren from Banja Luka run a 700 meters course that extends from Boska mall to Kastel Fortress. The start zone is at Kralja Petra I Karadjordjevic Street, and runs past the Boska mall, beside Palas Hotel, and then through Trznicka Street to the finish line located in Kastel Fortress.

Bambini Marathon is divided into three age categories. The youngest marathon runners can run or walk over 250 meters track, accompanied by one adult. The aim of this competition is to develop sports habits and socialize with peers.

Kids finish their race at Kastel Fortress, along with enriched entertainment program fulfilled with concerts, play and dancing.

Track run by the youngest Banja Luka’s citizens is 250 meters long and is intended for toddlers aged 2 to 6 years of old. The start zone of this race is a parking lot under the fortress Kastel (Market Street), and a small track share leads directly to the goal which is located inside the Kastel Fortress.

Participants in the Bambini Marathon are preschoolers who can run the race with an adult beside them.

Children from 2 to 4 years old run with the parents. Each registered child from the age of 4 years runs with the help of a trainer, while children from the age of 5 years up to school age, run in groups with the guidance of a trainer.

The parents hand over the children to the trainers in the parking lot in front of the Kastel Fortress and welcome them to the destination in the Kastel (entrance from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering side).

The trainers are provided by the organizer.

Each parent will receive a pair of the same numbers as their children which they must show to trainer when they are picking up the kids after the finish line. All participants in the Bambini Marathon are required to wear selected team insignia that are consistent with the insignia of their trainers, to help locate the group upon completion of the race.

EXPO - every year the sports fair brings together manufacturers of sports equipment, professional sports and recreational clubs, organizers of races and other sporting events.

In the EXPO zone, visitors and runners get all the information they need, and can visit the exhibit booths of sponsors and friends of the “Vivia Run & More Weekend” festival.

The great performers on the main stage of the Kastel Fortress are the guarantors of a great time. This year on Friday, 10th of April, after the Color Fun Run, all runners and visitors can expect a fantastic evening Color Party with timeless dance hits, which will be brought to them by ABBA Real Tribute Band.

Now already traditionally, “Vivia Run & More Weekend” festival is hosting a big outdoor night-party on Saturday, 11th of April. Organized by the Run & More Community in collaboration with the Fresh Wave Festival (the party will be held) on the main stage of the Kastel Fortress in Banja Luka. This year, the proven names from the world of electronic music will be with us.

Teen Party will be held to entertain school children on Friday, 10th of April, just after the School Run.

The next day; Saturday,11th of April, Bambini Party will be organized for the youngest just after their Bambini race. Then, we will have a daily Party Time on the running space, at the seven points along the whole track!

In addition to the audience and fans, the runners will be accompanied by a wide variety of music live performances which are adapted to all tastes and ages. From percussion musicians, several DJs, to the sound of tambourines and trumpets.

The fun continues after the half marathon, 10K and 5K races; the runners will be able to celebrate another finished race and the new records at an After Run Party.
