One of the best BH athletes, an Olympian, Lucia Kimani, after having spent 12 years being a member of the athletic club “Borac”, has joined, in 2019, the Banja Luka Athletic Club, where she was given better training conditions and a chance to return to her prior shape and achieve great results.
In addition to her sports responsibilities, one of the best athletes in BH, together with the coaching team of the Athletic club Banja Luka, will also work in a school of recreational running.
“I am happy to train in the Athletic Club Banjaluka in the future. I am grateful to the leading people of this club who have given me the opportunity, and the support, to return to my prior shape. I hope to achieve better placement at local and regional competitions in the upcoming period, and if everything goes well in the world competitions as well. I like the fact that I will be working in a team with several trainers. In recent years I have worked hard with many recreational runners, and running has changed lives for the better to many of them. Whether you are a professional or a recreational runner, training in a group brings not only socializing aspect but also constant support from the group, “says Lucia Kimani.
Since the Banja Luka athletic club is one of the organizers of RMC Banja Luka half-marathon race, which will be held on April 20, 2019, Lucia Kimani points out that, as one of the members of this club, she is very likely to be a promoter of the race as well.
“Future plans of the athletic club ‘Banja Luka’ for the upcoming year are very ambitious. We are happy that we have succeeded in providing all necessary means needed for better preparation of our elite members. We are happy that Lucia Kimani is now with us and we will do our best to provide her with the conditions for fulfilling the Olympic Games standard which will, this year, be held in Tokyo. That is our primary goal but even if we do not reach it Lucia will certainly make good results on regional competitions. Her joining the club is certainly a stimulus to other talents and competitors and a new energy in the club, “said Goran Ćorić, president of the Banja Luka athletic club.
Lucia Kimani was born on June 21, 1981 in Kajiado, Kenya. She started running in 2004. In 2006 she became a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina defending the colors of the BH flag ever since.
